Character Name: Elektra Natchios
Canon: Marvel (616)
Canon Point: end of Dark Regin: Elektra (Issue 5)
Age: 31
Birth Date: August 15th
Gender Role: Female
Match: Random!
Abilities: During her early years, Elektra was both a gymnast and practiced martial arts. She excelled at both. Following her father's death at nineteen, Elektra became a ninja trained by two different factions, the Chaste and the Hand. She is a master of the ninja arts, assassin, and proficient with just about every weapon imaginable. Seriously, Elektra: Assassin has her running around with cross bows, AK-47s, hunting knives, and katanas along with her usual pair of sai and that is just a small sampling. This lady can pretty much wield any weapon on Earth. She makes a conscious choice to only use her trademark weapons a majority of the time.
Speaking of Elektra: Assassin, it introduced the idea of ninja arts translated some crazy “powers” Elektra is able to wield. (The jury is out still on whether these are actual powers, mystical arts, or simply ninja tricks.) These abilities include being able to lock portions of her mind/memory to everyone including herself, influence or communicate with others by entering their mind, linking her mind with another person's, and using that link to control someone else's body. She can also shield her thoughts to a certain extent that is dependent on whoever is writing her at the moment. (I hate Mark Millar in an unrelated story.)
There are drawbacks to these abilities. Whoever she links with can hear her thoughts if they focus hard enough. If she tries to link with more than one person at a time, Elektra risks having one of the linked minds overtake her.
She can also essentially put herself in a meditative state similar to a coma to increase her natural healing. Throughout Dark Reign, she is near death due to her torture by both Osborn and the Skrulls, but is able to recover fully within two weeks.
She can also potentially resurrect the dead by “giving” life to them which falls under her ninja tricks clause. This happens at the end of Shadowland that takes place after her current canonpoint. Elektra will likely never attempt it in game though since she only cared for Matt enough to make the attempt.
Setting: Where logic goes to die and everything is somehow canon
History: Discover what happens when no one wants to let a successful Frank Miller creation stay dead
Personality: Elektra is someone who seems to have given up on everything following the murder of her father. She is a woman who pushes forward and does what she knows best, killing and mercenary work, without any real end goal in mind. She is an incredibly broken human being. Events in her life have nearly completed destroyed who she is as a person. The keyword here is nearly.
It is true that she is incredibly cold and calculating. She has been highly trained by a group, the Hand, to kill in service of the Beast who is supposedly meant to wipe out mankind. A part of the goal in training her was to destroy the kinder parts of her personality even going so far as to trick her into killing her beloved sensei. Elektra herself comments that the Jonin in charge of her training had broken her in many ways. Her actions do not contradict this either.
She kills others without hesitation. An example would be any fight with the Hand ninja following her departure from them. It is always a bloodbath since the Hand fight to the death and Elektra always manages to triumph over them. A more notable would be in one of the her early appearances where she stabs two men in the back for trying to shoot Daredevil for sport while his back was turned and then continues to pursue the costumed hero without ever bothering to look back.
She is shown to be calculating in many ways such as taking hits from Daredevil in order to lure him into getting caught in a bear trap, allowing herself to be murdered by Gorgon so she could have the information necessary to defeat the team up of HYDRA and the Hand with SHIELD's help, and letting herself get beaten up by Paladin so she could use her broken tooth to choke him while tied up. As you might gather from those example she has little care for her physical well being as long she can still accomplish what she sets out to do. Elektra's drive to do what she thinks is necessary is one of her most defining traits. It is especially clear in Elektra: Assassin where she more or less takes on the whole world (SHIELD and the Hand specifically) in order to destroy the physical host of the Beast. Her mind is broken, she is nearly lobotomized, and injured many times over, but still pursues the Hand and Ken Wind without ever slowing down. Once she sets her mind to do something, Elektra tends to succeed through willpower alone. It is that simple.
You might have noticed that taking on demonic forces and their allies is not the action of someone who has given up on everything. That is because some of her warmth managed to live on. The college girl who once dreamed of helping the world she truly loved still exists deep within Elektra's heart. It is that warmth that spurns her to continue to protect her first love Matt Murdock even when he is condescending at best or indifferent at worst due to his hatred of what she has become. It also pushed her to help Logan at Stick's insistence while he was feral following an attack from Magneto and again when the Hand takes control of him during the events of Enemy of the State. It is not just physical protection she offers either. Elektra makes it her mission to rescue Matt's then girlfriend Karen from crooked guards by having herself sent to jail and befriending the woman under an alias to spare Matt the pain of losing her. She also accompanies Logan on a journey back to the place his first love was buried as well as showing him her home in Greece in order to help him continue to emotionally heal from the assault. This is of course does not stop her from being cruel to Matt at times. It's not nice to trick people into getting caught in bear traps!
Finally, Elektra has her own set of morals. They are malleable at times, but she tends to stick to this certain set of principles. She will not knowingly kill innocent people. The times she actually tried to go against this moral such as with Ben Urich and Franklin Nelson both ended in her saving them in the end by patching up the one and letting the other go. She will also try to spare those she believes are trying to kill her because they've been tricked or lied to. This stance actually takes up the last couple of issues of Dark Reign: Elektra as she tries hard to reveal what she thinks is the truth to those after her. She even goes so far as to apologize and admit shame for her part in what she thinks a skrull did while pretending to be her. On the flip side of that, she will kill those she has personally wronged if they do come after because she doesn't have time for that. She can also justify allowing two hundred or so SHIELD agents to be killed while undercover in order to save the world at large. She does this mostly by trying to spare as many as possible along the way. While SHIELD agents are pretty far from innocent, she still doesn't want to see them dead. That is at least until the crazy ones joined H.A.M.M.E.R.
To end things, Elektra is a resourceful, determined, and withdrawn person with hints of humanity beneath her cold exterior. She does not talk much (in decently written stories anyways) or have much in the way of allies. She is typically a lone wolf against whatever obstacles she stumbles upon in her journey. This does not mean she is completely without warmth or loyalty to others; just that the group is very small and her softer moments are rare. She is complex individual due to her traumatic life experiences destroying what used to be a very happy, innocent young woman.
Inventory: Standard red silk assassin outfit and a pair of bloodied sai is all she has at this point!

Logs: The question of what is next hangs in the air as Elektra escapes from the site of the crashed hellicarrier. There is no longer a S.H.I.E.L.D to potentially receive a job from to clear her head of the agent she had to kill. She could seek out what her mimic had done now that she had a timeline of her abduction. That thought quickly is dismissed. It does not matter in the long run what was done because the creature could not deviate far from the actions she would take in the situation.
What does matter is where to go next. Her only living ally she can find in this strange landscape where a enemy of Spider-Man can wield legitimate power is Logan. Going back to his cabin is another thought dismissed. She does not want to see him when this woman's blood is still on her face. He is not as ruthless as her despite being an “animal” to so many. His silence as she admitted that killing the ones she wronged was her go to solution should reason fail had been condemnation enough.
(He forgets that she is only good with him. She doesn't.)
Yet again it hits her there is nowhere to go; no friend to turn to. She keeps running anyways. Something will come to her eventually. It is not the first time she's gone on without a destination nor will it be the least.
(It's all she's done since Poppa died.)
